The order it happens in
Set-out to splashback, in five stages
Every kitchen we do runs in this order.
- 01
Measure and set out
The room is measured and drawn up before anything is ordered.
- 02
Strip-out
The old kitchen comes out and the walls behind it get made good. Appliances are disconnected by the right trade.
- 03
Services
If a power point or a tap is moving, that happens now. The electrician and the plumber work to the new set-out.
- 04
Cabinetry
Carcasses in, doors hung, panels scribed to the wall.
- 05
Benchtops and splashback
Benchtops go in first, then the splashback is tiled down to them for a clean line.
While the job runs
You keep living in the house
A kitchen renovation happens in the middle of a house people are still living in. The room is left clean and walkable at the end of each day, and the tools go away.
One person coordinates the trades and keeps you posted on who is coming when.
Questions people ask
Before you call
Do we have to replace the whole kitchen?
No. If the carcasses are sound, they can stay and everything you actually touch gets replaced. That is doors, benchtops, handles and the splashback. It is a shorter job and it costs less.
Can you work around a kitchen we still need to use?
Up to a point. There is a stretch in the middle where the room is not usable, and we will tell you how long that stretch is before we start.
Who supplies the cabinetry?
Either way works. Some people choose their own and we install it. Others want us to handle the lot. Tell us which you would prefer when you call.
My walls are not straight. Is that a problem?
It is normal in an older house. Panels get scribed to the wall so the finished job reads straight.
Thinking about the kitchen?
Tell us the room and roughly what you want out of it. We will say what is involved and in what order.
